What would a Puppy Borg look like? When I was in college at the Institute of Design IIT, I developed a concept call Bioperceptor. The idea was to have a head mounted display that would let kids view the world in the many ways animals and insects view it. Lots of research has been done as to how flies, spiders, dogs, and frogs see the world, and I imagine it wouldn't be hard to build a device that did image processing and gave you a fully immersive view and empathy with our co-inhabitants. That was 1991 and I received a design award from Goldstar aka Life is Good- LG.
Fast forward to today and let me update the concept. It seems that sooner or later we will extend our perceptions of the world with sensors. Let's imagine that those sensors aren't just electronics but the living breathing bio-buddies we share our time with.
